Robins
These cheerful little birds are a joy to make in glass. They are made from small pieces of glass cut to shape and fused to a clear piece of glass. They are nice to look at all year round but are especially festive towards Christmas.

My latest project has been creating these glass flowers. They start life as flat pieces of glass in the kiln and move through various firing and slumping programmes to being added to pieces of copper piping. They are very satisfying to make and I am pleased with the result. Now to make some leaves to go with them.
What to do in lockdown? I always fancied making a cake stand and here I had time to do it. Rather pleased with the results and so enjoyable to make.
These star dishes are very exciting to make as you can never be sure quite how they are going to come out. You never know how the glass is going to mix in the kiln during firing and it is always a good morning when you open the kiln to see what has happened.
They can be made in a variety of sizes and colours and are remarkably robust.

Happy New year to everyone who I have met over the festive season at various craft fairs and markets. It has been a busy but very enjoyable season. Thank you all very much.
